Donna, sorry to hear of your misfortune.

I had a close call a few years ago at a stop light. I was exiting the UnionTown center (Albertson's, DMV, etc) at the light for a left turn onto northbound Union; this is just north of Research Blvd. Light turns green for me so I start moving but I always do a quick side to side double check before getting more than a few feet.

I checked the right side and here comes a Suburban at the full posted speed of 40-45 MPH with a soccer mom driving and a cell phone up to her left ear. She never saw the red light, drove right through it, and never heard me leaning on the horn to get her attention.

For years now, whenever I go through any green light I always do a quick left-right double check to look for vehicles that may be speeding towards the light.

I agree with Airventure. I live in Northern California and I could complain all day about drivers here as well but I only ruin my own very precious day getting upset about it. (which I do more than I would like). Good luck.

I just got back on a bike two weeks ago and brother, you are spot on. People here seem to feel entitled to go through a red lights (and stop signs) quite often. I am glad that I drive very defensively.

Are you referring to running lights?

In most of WA, they have cameras on the lights. At least they did in and around Olympia when I was there. Here, they almost did that, but then they didn't. So some of our intersections have cams, but they're turned off. No one will get a ticket for running a light here, unless a cop catches them in the act and pulls them over, or there is a wreck. So to answer your question, we have no idea who the culprits are, besides everyone, because there are no cameras taking pics of them.
