Default Moving for massage and mountains!

So, my hubby and I are moving to COS in Feb 2008 and are looking for any input or thoughts that might help us with some decisions. I am a massage therapist and he's a personal trainer. We're dying to settle down, start a business (wellness center) and buy a house... maybe start a family. We want to take some time and figure out what town/part of town will be good for the biz, good to live, etc. Plan to rent initially... buy in 1-2 years. May have to get "jobs" initially to get established and figure out the market. Where are people most likely to get massages, go to trainers? I like the idea of being near downtown or even old colorado city, what are these areas generally like? Safe, quiet? Do locals spend much time in Old colorado city, or is that mostly a tourist area. We're coming from Key West, Fl.. All tourists and I'm a little burned out on that scene.

Also interested in Manitou Springs or Woodland Park. Are there enough people up there to start a business or are we better off staying closer to the city?

Got to go find our winter coats! Thanks for the help.

The Broadmoor has a huge, high-end spa. There are also several fitness centers around here. Villa Sport is a new one near Woodmen and Powers. My wife and I plan to take a look at that once we settle in our house.

The blackforest has a well known massage place but I forget the name. Manitou Springs, Woodland Park, OCC... all tourists spots, don't attempt to start a massage palor business there.

Agree, tourist towns like Manitou probably aren't a good place to do this, and Woodland Park may be too small.

North side of COL SPGS supports several places just fine, like Massage Envy (a chain) and Toccare, both on Briargate Pkwy. These may be places to get some work before going out on your own. I go to Massage Envy and they are quite busy.

Another really large and very upscale fitness center is at the Flying Horse development, an awesome fitness center.
