Default Visit - Motels - Hospitals - Singles

Hi Mike, remember me, Traci, the travelling nurse that wants to move to COS? You gave me lots of great info on the place. I am going to come there for a few days in March just to check the place out, look around, etc. If you don't mind, do you have any ideas on where to stay, and what to do? I want to check out the hospitals, also. I am not looking for a real expensive hotel, I won't be there much. Also, I am divorced. I know that you are married and retired, but do you know anything about the singles scene there? I will be 44 in March. I appreciate any info you can give me. Thank you.
Traci V.

Traci, yes, I do recall, hello again.

Hotel: I suggest Homewood Suites on Briargate Pkwy, exit 151 off I-25. Excellent place, free breakfast 7-days and free dinner 4-days (mon-thur). Safe, convenient to both new hospitals. To see the area of this hotel:

Hospitals: There's a lot here on that, just use the Search tool with keywords such as: hospital Penrose Memorial nurse
- http://www.city-data.com/forum/color...tml#post544095
- The old Penrose St Francis in down on Nevada Ave, a lovely area known as the Old North End, tree lined streets, small cottages to large old homes, walkable to the downtown, includes Colorado College, a really fine school.
- The old Memorial Hospital is just east of downtown and not far from our largest city park, Memorial Park, a great spot.
- The new Memorial Hospital North has a cafe that's open to the public, with good food at the best prices in town, limited lunch/evening hours. Across Briargate Pkwy from here is a King Soopers supermarket and there's a cool new eateries there called Spicy Pickle which is great for panini's, soups, salads, and is next to a Starbucks (I could make it a day here, sitting out and looking at Pikes Peak in the morning sun....) This is in the Briargate photo tour thread.

Things to do: Lots of stuff to do here, with or without kids. For sure, in-town stuff like Garden of the Gods and the shops and eateries of Old Colorado City just west of downtown along Colorado Ave (especially from 20th street on up to 30th) and further west in the funky artsy town of Manitou Springs which is further west on Colorado Ave. See this link:

Singles: Can't help much with this. Use the search tool with keywords like single or nightlife. The really active singles scene is in Denver, but there's got to be some here. Hopefully, others in this forum with speak up.

Best of luck to you with the visit.

s/mike
