On a related note, have you noticed how many cars and trucks in the area have expired license plates? I counted 15 today while on a bike ride. Even if these drivers have insurance, I'm thinking that their insurance provider may use the expired plates as an excuse to not honor an accident claim.

Expired plates is more of a DMV issue and not affect insurance.
