Default Do you know the process? Elem School Transfer

I'm the type of person who cant wait until Monday to call the Co. Springs School District.

So we know we're leaving Texas the 21st of Feb and heading out to Co. Springs. My son's last day of school is the 20th of Feb. I know the important documents that I need to enroll him in a school. What I dont know is how long do I have from the time I disenroll him from his current school and the time I have to enroll him into his new school. Do I need to enroll him within a certain time frame? Mind you this is my first school aged son so I'm new to it.

Thanks for the help!!!!

hey there, if I was to guess I would say 1 week is standard. I am not 100% sure though.

If you give me the district you are moving into, I can look up the # and give it to you via pm. just let me know.

That's the thing. We dont know where we're going to live. Our BAH is 1245 and we'd like to find a house in a nice area in a great school district. Hopefully by then we'll have sold our house/rented in San Antonio because we'd be paying rent and a mortgage. I dont want that! I've been searching realtor.com and militarybyowner.com by zip code (thanks to mike from back east) and i've just become overwhelmed. What it boils down to is scoping out the area, distance, and drive for my husband. He'll be working at Ft Carson. I'd like to live in the Woodmen-Rockrimmon area or in Dist 12. I'd be satisified living in Dist11 near two schools i've found on greatschools.com.

Can anyone recommend a realtor??? I could find anyone I know on the web but if anyone has a friend or a realtor who did an excellent job, please send me their info (via Direct Message only)

With the hideous market conditions that exist in both places, you'd be taking a real risk to jump into one before you resolve the other.

Your husband can make the PCS move ahead of you if the San Antonio house hasn't sold or rented. If you decide to move with the San Antonio home still hanging in the air, you're setting yourself up for some serious butt pain...the school district in COS will be the least of your worries while two mortgage companies hold you underwater right until the point where the bubbles stop coming up.
