Default Moving to Colorado Springs!

So I have orders to go to Fort Carson this coming August! I have done a lot of research and seen lots of pictures, and I think my husband and I are going to LOVE Colorado Springs.

That said, I was wondering if anyone could help me out a bit!
We are going to rent, but have 2dogs and 1cat...is it difficult to rent with animals? (I'm not getting rid of them ever, but wanted to know how hard it might be!)
Also, what areas are the 'best' yet affordable areas to live in?
And, does anybody know of any horse boarding stables? (I have 1 horse that I will be bringing with me)
I have read up on a few, Pikes Peak Riding Academy and Fountain Creek Stables, and wanted to know if anyone has had any personal experience with them

Thank you for any help or advice! And if you know of something not listed here, please let me know

anywhere up to $900. I could go up to $1000, but I want to try and keep it below $900

nobody can offer any tips or anything else about moving to Colorado Springs?
I would at least like to know if there are any areas I should avoid due to crime or something.
Anybody??

What have you gleaned from you research?

Are you both at Fort Carson? If not, where is the other one? Where will he work?

I have learned that there are certain parts that are less expensive and more expensive, but I'm not good at understanding different districts or neighborhoods, so I don't know much about crime rates or the general area. I've learned about the basic area, but nothing in particular about any one area if you know what I mean.
I found this site through my research, so I thought I could get some first hand knowledge here
We will both be at Ft Carson. My husband plans to go back to school with a part time job so where he works isn't too important at this point

For tons of info on crime, use our Search This Forum tool keywords like: crime sketchy

Short version: Avoid parts of SE COL SPGS. Lots of news reports of trouble in/around Murray Blvd or S. Academy Blvd. Rest of the city is pretty good.

I spent an entire summer in the Springs and here's what I've learned.
My aunt lives near Old Colorado City, home to plenty of history and really cute fixer-uper homes. I dunno if your into fixing up or not, but you'll be pretty close to plenty of places.
My only other con about this is that it's more towards the northwest of the city, and Fort Carson is towards the south.
However, most of the neighborhoods in South COS are full of Military men with testosterone problems so I would suggest that you live at least a bit of distance from your work area.
That's pretty much all I know, but I wish you would be a bit more specific about what you're asking for.

Here is the link for the Colorado Springs Police Department. You can look at their maps and see the crime for each area. City of Colorado Springs - Police Department Homepage
But you can also look up other information aswell.

Thanks for the all the info, I will definitely do some more searches about crime, and check out the police page!
oc2eire- I guess the main thing I'm asking is what are the best areas to look into renting a home, and what are the price ranges. I've found nice homes at many different price ranges, I just don't want to rent in an area with high crime. But I think these sites will help me find that info
I am also still trying to find out more info about different horse stables in the area as well, just in case anybody knows of any
