We go to the Briargate branch of the YMCA and love it. We have 2 kids, age 6 & 9 and there is lots of stuff for them to do too. Memberships comes with discounts for sports, summer day camps and swimming.

Villa Sport is an excellent fitness center. My family loves it, especially the pools.

You can stop in and they'll give you a very in-depth tour...

There's a Lifetime Fitness under construction at Briargate and Powers in NE Co Springs. I've tried emailing them to find out when they plan to open but they wouldn't say. It's huge, though, and I'm sure it will be quite nice. No idea about the membership fee, though.

Lifetime Fitness wouldn't provide me any info either. I wonder if they have stopped construction . . . I haven't noticed much progress lately.

Work on Lifetime Fitness has slowed a lot, but still a few trucks there most days. They had planned to open 16 places this year, have scaled back to 8 openings, not sure how the credit market will affect them. There are 4 membership classes but prices are not stated on their website. The building is up and most work seems on the interior. It's located along Powers, off of Union, next to Lowes. It's a huge place, looks a lot bigger than even Villa Sport.

Meanwhile, I've got my 1972 membership in Bally Fitness (two locations) that only costs me $12 per year since 1975 when I finished paying for it (about $400 or so for a lifetime VIP membership to all clubs).

There are a ton of other fitness places all over town (Fitness 19, Golds, 24-Hour fitness, YMCA's, Curves, etc). Tons of places.

Non community residents can also get membership at the club at Flying Horse. It is very beautiful - probably the nicest facility (big but not biggest) you will find in Colorado Springs - but it does cost some significant $$$.

Villa Sport is fabulous! if you like any fitness classes at all it is totally worth it. It has five pools and three are outside with slides, all sorts of things for the kids. Every treadmill has a built in TV. They have mens and women's locker rooms with sauna's and hot tubs plus they have a family locker room, cafe, great kids program and a spa. Go see them, they will give you a tour and it will be worth it! it's not nearly as cramped as a YMCA. In fact they took information from what suggestions people have to improve the Y and used those to build VS.
