This fall (September-ish) I will be moving from Colo Springs to Sun City West (near Phoenix).

I am looking for a good but reasonably priced mover.

I will be moving: kitchen/dining, living room, 2 bedrooms, and of course the odds and ends.

I will need about 1 month of storage here is COS before they move the stuff on down to Phoenix.

And recommendations?

Thank you!

We just moved from Illinois to Colorado Springs and had a very good experience with Zippy Shell. They are affordable, offer storage, and they got our possessions to us quickly.

A former thread on movers. My usual advice is in post #5.

We are using Atlantic Relocation Systems to do this exact move in a few weeks (through Atlas Van Lines). Their estimate was the lowest, their reviews were the best and I really liked the person who came out to do the survey. I will let you know how it goes!

Okay, phase one of the move is over. First, the bad: after booking our move, communication was totally lacking. I never got my confirmation paperwork, including the payment info, and my questions went unanswered by my moving coordinator.

The good news: the actual movers were absolutely fabulous. For some reason we were coded as a military move (we are actually a retired military family now) so they went ahead and crated everything. The guys were thorough, efficient, careful with our belongings and lovely to deal with. We have moved six times now in the last fifteen years and these were the best "move out" movers we have had in that time. (One of the reasons I chose Atlantic Relocation/Atlas was the background checks they run on their employees.)

I am hoping that the delivery goes as well! I will let you know in another three weeks or so.

ETA: I STILL haven't paid for anything! I know they have everything I own held hostage but still, you'd think they would take my money after I repeatedly offered it!

As far as storage goes, when my wife and I moved to the Springs (OK...Monument but it's just north of the Springs) from Sacramento, we were downsizing from a 3-bedroom to a 2-bedroom and so had a lot of extra stuff that my wife (afflicted with hoarder syndrome) couldn't get rid of. I found this site, http://www.storageseeker.com/self-storage/facilities/Colorado-Springs-CO to be helpful in finding smaller, local storage places. Turns out we basically threw away everything were were storing after about 6 months but oh well....
