For a while I struggled to find companions with similar interests to participate in activities, beyond my own personal acquaintances. Recently I did a search for "colorado springs + mexican train dominoes" (for example) and stumbled upon meetup.com. I've hooked up with some people who meet at a couple of venues (a coffee shop and a deli) to play mexican train dominoes, chat, and eat together. Many of us are relatively new to the area. It's great for meeting people. And there are many varied interests at the site -- things such as hiking, card games, singles, photography, travel, etc. All the events (as far as I've noted) take place in public settings. Check it out. P.S. -- our mexican train group could use some additional members.

Note -- the company that owns that site is, I think, out of NYC, but it covers localities all over the country. They are a profit-making company, but joining and participating is free.

No this is not an ad. I am just a user of the service, and I thought I would share it with you folks.

I've seen it mentioned numerous times in these forums. I've used it for hiking, language learning, and I think some other kind of groups although not recently. I've heard of Mexican train dominoes but I don't think I know how to play. I'm sure I could Google it.

I'll have to tell my friend and neighbor across the street about it - she's always threatening to teach me how to play it. I don't even know how to play regular Dominoes!

Mexican train dominoes is so much better...none of the feeling of hopelessness that is inherent in regular dominoes.
