Question Mega mall near Monument?

Has anyone heard any info about a big mall being planned for in/near Monument? I heard a rumor about a big mall with a megaplex movie theater, etc.

I haven't heard that about Monument. Could be very true. Has been a lot done there in recent 1-2 years along Jackson Creek Parkway (WalMart, Kohls, Staples, Home Depot) etc.

We're getting two large commercial developments on the north end of COL SPGS, which may be considered to be 'near' Monument. The area is very near the USAF Academy, in fact, you can see Falcon Stadium directly across I-25.

On the SE corner of Hwy 83 and InterQuest Pkwy is Colorado Crossing which claims 153 acres, 1.6M sq ft retail and office space, 100,000-sq-ft water park, 1,600 apartments, THs, condos and lofts and a Cinemark movieplex.
- Colorado Crossing

On the NW corner of Hwy 83 and InterQuest Pkwy is Interquest Marketplace which claims 135 acres, 1.1M sq-ft retail and entertainment space, Hollywood Theaters movieplex, Brunswick bowling alley, and a 320-room Renaissance Hotel.

The malls are going to be near Baptist and I-25. Two new movie theater complexes. I responded in detail about this then....I decided to create a new thread.

Monument, Colorado

Wow, if that's what they're doing that makes 4 movieplex's in a 5 mile stretch of highway. Either it's bad planning or they know they're going to load up this area with so much housing in the next ten years it isn't funny.

I read about these things in two Tri-Lakes papers

Here's an article on one new shopping thing near Baptist and I-25:

Interesting info. Not sure to be happy or sad. The plus side is having stuff close is always nice. I'm pretty spoiled when it comes to that. I live 4 miles from work, Briargate area isn't far away. Having a movie theater close would be nice as I head down to the Cinemark on Powers now.

The down side is these things always bring in a ton of traffic.

On another note, at Baptist and Jackson Creek, there is now a road that goes south. Where does that lead? Does it tie into the Gleneagle area?

That is Struthers Road and it goes into Gleneagle and ends at North Gate Road by the I-25 interchange.

Was made aware of this map today. Shows land use. If the image is too big then maybe it should just be a URL. (Click on the bar above the image to make it readable.) Unfortunately the streets aren't labeled. The top interchange is CO-105 and I-25, the next main east-west street is Higby road (note how it is realigned dipping south and then west of Lewis Palmer High School and then over I-25), the lower interchange is Baptist. Something doesn't look right about this because where Home Depot and Kohls are now is labeled as BP for business park. Not sure. The date is 2003, maybe that explains it.

The story is here.
