Aloha Everyone!

Well, I kind of stumbled on this forum a few days ago and have enjoyed the postings of alot of you. My name is Michelle and we live in Hawaii...I'm sure alot of you know that it is VERY expensive here (example: $8/gallon for milk!)and I am just so desparate to go back home (I'm from Aurora). After months and months of persuading my husband, I finally have him considering the move (he's from here). We want to do some research before we jump into the fire and this seems like a great place to go to get some intelligent input. My question is this, do any of you know what a residential general contractor could make in Colorado Springs (ballpark of course)? I know in th past forums, some of you have said that there is much housing work there but that was back in August. How long do you think it will last? With winter coming, how much do the jobs dip? Just a few questions...mahalo (thanks) everyone in advance for your input!

I work with several custom home builders in Larkspur and most of them do quite well. Most custom home builder work on a cost plus basis and the “plus” is normally 10% – 15%. In my area most new homes sell for $600k - $700k and many builders like to build about 1 spec home per year to supplement their income from presales and remodels. I don’t think any of the builders that I work with earn less than $100k per year.

The cost of living is also much more reasonable here.
