Thanks for your reply. Yes, we have a son, 11. I would love to get some info from people who sent their kids to Fort Carson Middle school and lived in Blackfoot Hills Housing. Have you seen any pictures or talked to somebody who lived there before? If you have any information, please share it with me. Thank you so much.

Default Blackfoot Hills

Hi again,

Yes I have seen pictures and I'm VERY excited about the housing. It is single family homes that are pretty new - in a Craftsman style with front porches. Very cute! Go to: Home (Home)

Thank you so much. I've checked out this website before and saw the pictures. Like I said, everything looks nice on pictures. I am excited to move. Colorado is beautiful and I hope I get used to the long, cold winters. Did you get some info on the schools? If it is more convenient, you can email me at jnichols002@hot.rr.com. Thanks, Ines

Gee, must be nice to be offered nice housing on base. Us lower ranked families get old run down housing. They offered me a house that had one wall in the living room made out of cinder blocks that were painted and the other sheetrock. It was a 3 bedroom with only one bath and no garage or carport. I asked about Pawnee Villiage, the lady laughed and said there is a year or more wait to get into there. Im glad we found a decent place off base.

Yeah I hear you there because the enlisted housing is pretty bad. The only way you make out is if you have alot of kids since a rental for someone with 4 kids can cost alot off of base. The ones I saw were really nasty!

I thought all the newest housing being built on Army Posts around the US was being built for enlisted first, officers second.

They have built more housing for enlisted than for officers. At least that is how it is here in NY. Even with the new houses that are built there is still a long wait list for lower ranked families because there are more of them in the military. Some officers and higher ranked people dont even have children but they still living in housing that has 3 bedrooms while the lower ranked with 2 children are living in hotels or off base. When we arrived here and applied for a 3 bedroom, I had 1 boy and a girl on the way, I was put on a wait list and told it was at 24-30 month wait. I was forced to live off base. We only lived there for 2 months because of the living conditions and was given a 2 bedroom on base while some other people that came in behind us that had more rank were given 3 bedrooms and they didnt even have children. The military dont want the ranks to mixed in communities i.e. privates with SFC, so thats why housing is like it is. Different communities are for different ranks. The new housing that is being built is going up without the quality and is falling apart. The walls are seperating, the plumbing dont work right etc..so I guess no matter if you live in old housing or new housing you are still gonna have problems.

well oringinally the ones on Carson were for enlisted but housing had told me that the officers refused to move into the old ones so instead they were given the new ones. so go figure, enlisted lose once again.
