Unfortunately, it is not likely that you will find what you are seeking. Short term furnished rentals are always expensive compared to normal rentals. Child care is also expensive.
People with more city knowledge could provide info on buses, but my impression is that public transportation is not that practical for commuting to most areas. America is most regretably based on the automobile for commuting.
