It's transactional. Caldera wants to use General Funds as payments for debt servicing w/o additional revenue sources. He wants the Legislature to be forced to prioritize roads. He resides in Boulder because he has a special needs daughter who receives excellent care there. But is state funding for special needs really the best use of our limited funding? Shouldn't they make use of Medicaid funding that the state already pays into? Why should there be extra funding for this special interest when clearly transportation is a higher priority? Gotta make some hard choices and the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the needy few.

I'm not even a Christian, but there's one Christian saying that I really like: Whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, that you do unto me.

Apparently, to you, cement and macadam are more important that human beings.

Not at all, I think that we should be paying more as a society to ensure adequate transportation for all as well as taking care of our most needy. But since we have one side of the political aisle saying that we need no new funding sources for transportation and should merely make some choices in prioritizing transportation than we should look more to Exodus 21:22-25 rather than Matthew 5:38-42. Proportional transaction rather than mercy.

Well I mean I am guessing you would also vote against new taxes to pay for road construction so CDOT is in a rock and a hard place. Try to get new taxes or build a toll road the road needs to be built and we the commuters will have to pay one way or another.

I give in, I’ll pay the toll. Got stuck in horrible southbound stop and go Monday, and northbound today.

From now until fall and well after that (probably).

And people still commute to Denver just to save a few grand on a house LOL.

How is the Bustang doing? It seems like a good option of you work close enough to one of its stops...

We saved $100-200k on both the homes we bought here. Though DH doesn't drive everyday, gas is mostly reimbursed, and we write off the vehicle mileage on taxes.

Unfortunately for new buyers, appreciation here appears to be very good at the moment, making it less and less of a bargain in comparison to Denver, unless they can find employment that matches their budgetary needs.

I took the Bustang a couple times last year when I had business meetings in downtown Denver. Way better than driving, IMO. There's free wifi and IIRC power outlets on board so you can read your mail or whatever along the way, and no hassles finding a place to park when you get there. There weren't very many people on board, though -- maybe 10-15?
