Cowards! Not all of us are cheapskates refusing to improve this State.
If you want to advocate for a gas tax hike, show up at those meetings and make your case.

I too would willingly support a gas tax hike if it were used solely for the roads.

There should be a Newcomers tax to pay for road improvements.

From the article:
Quote:
El Paso County Commissioner Mark Waller reminded Kurt Morrison, Gov. John Hickenlooper's director of legislative affairs that since 2010 the Colorado general fund has grown more than 40 percent, from $6.5 billion to the proposed $10.9 billion for 2017. "So how is it that we don't have enough dollars for transportation?" Waller said.
Yep that 40% budget increase in 7 years is all TABOR's fault...it's amazing that Colorado can even function with so little money!

2010 is an interesting baseline year to use. Something was occurring at that time but I can't quite remember what it was....

Just a hunch, but we were in the midst of a major recession at that point.

More info in the Denver Post today, things may be looking up (somewhat):

Trooper deaths spur calls for widening I-25 in Douglas County – The Denver Post

Have to wonder if we expand to 6 (or maybe even 8) lanes each way how long until it will not make ANY difference, like T-Rex in Denver?
