Weird thought, maybe, but just suddenly wondering if it's common in or near COS to see bulletproof glass in area gas station cashier windows.

Is this common during overnight shifts?

It's very common in downtown Boston, though I guess in some suburbs here, you can simply stroll into the gas station/convenience area and pay...without sliding money under a partition.

Its not uncommon, although its use isn't city wide through all franchises.

I see them across the country, All New ones have bullet resistant glass as part of the standard builds of outside booths. Older ones on upgrade get them.

Mostly Its probably a insurance requirement to get coverage, also law suit prevention, If a worker get shot at and is hurt/killed, you can be sure the station owner will get sued, and key item will be the bullet resistant glass that was not there.

Seems they open the regular doors around 6 a.m. in my local Boston spots.

Maybe I'm thinking of small town Utopia, not having bulletproof glass. Who knows, maybe it was like that most everywhere...until the 1970s or so? An America current teens would never envision.

Most gas stations within my zip code still do not have bullet proof glass enclosures around the clerks. Some do. The ones that do not are older stations owned by smaller local or regional chains. Exception being the Kum & Gos, which are a huge national chain but do not have enclosures either.

I could see some insurance carriers insisting on it and perhaps one day all my local places will have it to stay in business. A couple of local places could be easily adapted to have it installed, they just haven't completed the upgrade.
