I am glad to see some answers (or at least theories) about how the fire started. Been a mystery for too long and too much speculation.

So it was caused by someone burning a bunch of cabinets in their fireplaces? That's awful!

Yeah, on a 95 degree windy day! Some people are just clueless.

Guess they didn't want to pay for an extra dumpster to properly dispose of the old cabinets.

You can't fix stupid.

Wow ... but did I misunderstand something - at the end it sounded like they were saying it couldn't be prosecuted after all this time. Surely that can't be right? (maybe I need to watch it again)

..."asked Pfoff why he was so willing to confirm information we obtained and he simply said the Black Forest community has a right to know, and he didn’t want them believing that there might be an arsonist out there running around."

Well; except that there is; at least in Teller County. There theory sounds plausible; I guess but I remember how hot & dry it was that day. Do people actually do that? Go fire it up?

Geez. How stupid. It makes sense though. That's what I heard initially.

At least that makes it less likely that there's some arsonist running around trying to start these wherever possible.

That cause is just as stupid as Terry Barton, a forestry manager (knows all about forests and fire management) burning a letter from her ex-husband on a windy June day in an open fire pit in Lake George. They're both huge "duhs" that caused millions of dollars of damage and loss of life. Like they say, you can't fix stupid.

IMO, its a theory, its not proven. Its a theory no different than we have a serial arsonist is a theory, or kids were playing with matches theory, or someone flicked a lite cigarette butt out the window theory.
