Default Welcome!

I am also an HP employee, welcome to Colo Springs!

As previously mentioned I would recommend checking into Woodland Park, Monument, Peyton, Falcon, even Ellicott or Calhan, I would also check in the Black Forest area. I'm not sure what you could find in your price range in these areas, but I know a lot of other HP employees who commute in from these areas. We even have some people who commute in daily from Pueblo, Denver, SW of Canon City, etc. Personally I think they are a little crazy!

I commute from near the Colo Springs airport everyday, which is not the best area of town. That takes me about 25 mins if there are no major traffic problems.

Will you be able to work from home at all? This seems to be more available these days than in years past.

I hope this helps!

Kelly

We Love, Love, LOVE - the Falcon area! We recently built a home in the Meridian Ranch neighborhood - our house backs up to approx. 60+ acres of open space, a creek, seasonal waterfall and lake, the golf course, and amazing views of Pikes Peak and the Rocky Mountain range!

It is windy out here, but with planting trees that provide shelter from the winds - we are good to go!

Shopping is close - we discovered by going down a couple of back roads we can be at the Briargate Shopping Area within about 15 - 20 minutes! =-) Not to mention just a short drive down Meridian Road gets you to 3 shopping areas, spa, and restaurants in Falcon.

Also, YMCA has a gym and pool in the heart of the neighborhood with all types of activities available for all ages. This is part of the homeowners association!

We have been very happy here and highly recommend this area. - Erica

Default What back roads and Q about pool -

What are the back roads you can take? When we were there visiting, we didn't see anything on maps, but we knew there had to be other ways to get around. Our house in Meridian Ranch will be done in two more months.

I do have a question - how long is the season for the pool to be open? Is it still open even after the kids start school? And are they still talking about building the indoor pool?

I thought they were going to build that huge DuPont factory in that open space....

The YMCA is covered in the homeowners association? That Briargate YMCA is fantastic.

Well I think that is a false reputation. I've lived in Security/Widefield/Fountain my whole life and I follow all the police reports and there is WAY more crime in Stetson Hills than down here. But, we are lower cost of living so everyone jumps to the conclusion that is a ghetto down here. We are great family communities, lots of new construction, lots of new military coming in, etc.

Awesome, what division do you work in? And in regards to working from home, I only wish. I plan on working for SMB, and I've been wondering what kinds of outside sales opportunities they have where you can work from home. Our plan is to move inside one year, we'll see how long I can wait :P We're actually planning a trip to Colorado Springs for the first week in June are having dinner with a friend who already works at SMB and his realtor who we're going to use who works for HP as well.

Default HP'r Living In Woodland Park

Daniel,

Welcome to Colorado! I also am an HP employee. I started working for Compaq in 1998 and after the merge was allowed to move from Houston, TX to Colorado as my group was based in Cupertino, CA and has since moved to Palo Alto, CA. I live in Woodland Park and I must say it is awesome. The drive is beautiful, takes about 35 minutes, and you can drive through Garden Of The Gods on the way to the Rockrimmon site. You can get a nice home for around 300K in Woodland Park.

Anyway, good luck!
