Grew up and went to high school in Colorado Springs. It's a physically pretty town (except for the huge mining scar on Pikes Peak), but it is one of the most conservative places in the country (which you might like). Lots of military, old money, the Air Force Academy, Focus on the Family, etc. If you don't mind all that, it's a nice place. It's also probably less expensive than Dallas. [URL removed}

We were torn between San Antonio and Colorado Springs. Visited both. When we first stepped out of the aiport in SA, the humidity HIT ME HARD! My sandles were soaked within a minute. This was back in July. Very hot and sticky there, especially coming from Las Vegas with hardly any humidity. I visited CO Springs two weeks ago and it was in the 50's and even 72 on a Saturday! (not average, but still nice!). CO Springs felt more like home. A big town that doesn't feel big. We visited Denver for a few days and just felt too big.
It will take some time to get used to the colder weather and snow. But we are from Michigan originally and CO Springs winter seems to be more mild. |

Eric, Speaking from experience, I believe you will prefer CS. There are many good things about SA but the crime rate there is much higher, especially home burglaries.

We moved from San Antonio to Colorado Springs. SA is a nice place to visit, but I never want to live there again. The heat and humidity were awful. San Antonio is basically a little bumpkin town that became overpopulated overnight. It's a small town that takes 2 hours to cross. The people are some of the stupidest I've ever had the displeasure to live around, only beat by the inbreds in Biloxi, MS. The infrastructure is old and needs to be upgraded, but they are taking their sweet time to do it. I can go on and on.

Texas does have a more diverse population. Unfortunately. Which is one of the big draws for some of us to come to Colorado. |

Care to tell me what diverse activities COSpgs has over Texas? I know of Territorial Days, Pikes Peak or Bust, Renaissance Festival, Balloon Races (but Texas also has those). I'll also give you that C/S has more sights to see but you don't want to put Colorado Springs up against the activity level of the cities in Texas. I gave the fact that CO has natural beauty that can't be beat, but the closest competitor Colorado has to TX in terms of activity is the Denver metro. Texas has 5 major metros: Austin, Dallas/Ft.Worth, Houston/Galveston, San Antonio, and El Paso. |
