I thought it was cold in Colorado the 20 years I lived there. It would be warm from about mid April through September. The other 7 months would be cold, especially at night.

But then again, i'm a wuss to the cold

Is it cold like Denver?

Is C.S. like that? I am tired of the heat here in TX but don't want to jump out of the frying pan into the freezer.

Thank you.
I just moved from Woodland Park which is 20 miles west of Colorado Springs to Dallas because of the weather. I would take heat any day verse 2-3 feet of snow. As I have said before there is nothing like the mountains and I do miss them. I do enjoy riding my motorcycle year round though.

I agree, it's cold here too many months out of the year. I miss the warmth.

Has the cost of housing gone down much in Co Springs? It seems like housing is way more expensive in Co Springs than the dallas area. We live near Denton and we've wanted to move to CO for years/decades, but it looks like we'd have to move from a 2300 sq ft home to about 1500 sq ft to stay in our budget. And to top that off, I've read that jobs pay LESS in CO? For those who have moved from TX to CO, have you found the cost of living to be overbearing? I'm a single Mom w/ my teenage son and Mom and while I don't mind living simply, I don't want to jeopardize our family's comfort.

I found the cost of living to be less in Colorado Springs than it is in Dallas. For most jobs that I know of the pay is more in Colorado Springs than in Dallas. I took a pay cut when I moved to Texas from Colorado Springs.

In the end it all averages out. Low property tax in Colorado but there is a state income tax. The taxman will get his money one way or another. Comparing house payments only I could have a $375,000 in Colorado Springs for the same paymant as a $280,000 in Dallas. Property tax in Texas is a killer.

I did a fairly involved analysis of cost between living in San Antonio and Colorado Springs. The total tax load, in my case, was lower in Colo Springs than in Texas (but not tremendously). As MountainPharmD points out, the property taxes bite. A $300,000 house in Bexar County TX was pushing $7K a year in taxes as I recall.

As with everywhere, the Sheriff and the Fire Dept don't work for free.

LoL! In the heart of it! Austin, TX here. Originally fro CoS! So yep, I living right dab in the middle of humidity and hot *** summers , 12 years of it already!

I just find it HARD that you took a pay cut coming to Texas. For me, it was the other way around. Even when I make to move back to CO, I plan to take a pay cut

Some of my offers in the past already proved that.

OK, I'm confused. Are you currently in TX? We haven't moved to CO yet, just starting to look for employment and housing.
