Default Anything Wrong With Powers?

Search homes in COS and you find that the Powers area seems to have much lower prices than Briargate or Black Forest. Is it just because these homes are further out from the more developed interstate corridor of COS? Or, is there something wrong with living in the Powers area?

If you go to Realtor.com and do a search for Colorado Springs, it gives you the option to search by area. One of the options is Powers. It looks like it is near Powers Blvd & Carefree Circle area.

I noticed prices are cheaper there also.

What's the shpeal?

Are the homes smaller?
Lots smaller?
Closer to a busy street?
Are the schools OK?
It is further from Denver.
Crime rate high or low compared to surrounding areas?

I live in the zip code area of 80923. I don't think there's anything wrong with the Powers area. I am further from the interstate than Briargate. Black Forest probably has larger lots. I think the Powers area is just further east than some people may want to be. Some people prefer to be closer to the mountains and have more trees. I live in a 4000 square foot home so my house is not smaller. I'm not on a busy street. I'm really close to schools. The crime rate is low in my area. Like any place, I guess it just depends.

From what I know (which isn't much), part of the reasons could be...

It's School District 11, which is less desirable than District 20 (Briargate) and that from what I've observed, the majority of the neighborhoods are "California style". Which means single family home, townhouse living... some of these new builders have less than 8 feet between houses. The lots are small. They seem to sell... not to us, but apparently some folks don't mind.

When scouting out the area last month, the Powers corridor is very nice! That is where the new Costco is at and all the shopping/restaurants you could want are located there. I would definitely live out in that area if my job was not in Cripple Creek

Good! I was hoping no one would write back and say: "That's where our nuclear power plant is." Or, "They had that problem with the water once..." Or, "Kids who live there seem to grow a third eye" or something weird. I think we'll check it out.
