Default Colorado Springs has Cleanest Air in USA

The American Lung Association (ALA) has designated Colorado Springs as having the cleanest air in the nation. Reported 28 April 06 in The Gazette, our local paper: http://www.gazette.com/display.php?id=1316864 (broken link)

Get the full report at: http://lungaction.org/reports/stateoftheair2006.html (broken link)

The Springs tied with two areas in Florida (Palm Bay-Melbourne-Titusville, FL), (Port St. Lucie - Fort Pierce, FL) and (Salinas, CA) for clean air honors. Just one more reason why you want to consider Colorado Springs as a place to live, work or retire.

We used to live in one of the cities with dirty air (DC Metro area) and here is that list:
Cleveland - Akron - Elyria, OH
Los Angeles - Long Beach - Riverside, CA
New York City - Newark, NJ - Bridgeport, CT
Pittsburgh - New Castle, PA
Washington, DC - Baltimore, MD - Northern Virginia

Default how clean is the air and the water

I saw a couple of links yesterday that a concrete plant is being built near Colorado Springs, and a coal power plant will be online within 3 more years.

There was apparently a lot of opposition to these, but the powers that be dismissed the concerns and pushed through the approvals.

Any more information about the status of these would be appreciated.

Exclamation Soap Box Speech

Shh. Don't tell everyone or COS won't stay that way for much longer.

I'm surprised Salinas CA is on that clean air list. They must get some good, clean, off shore air flows because usually agricultural areas like that don't fare well due to the pesticide and herbicide usage on the crops.

Did you see the article about pesticide residue accumulating in the snow on our mountain peaks such as Mt. Rainier? Bad news for the folks who use that melted run off. Looks like more water pollution and more deformed amphibians.

Apparently, the pesticides are evaporating into the atmosphere and coming back down in our snowflakes all over the globe. When will we learn? Do the people and industries that use the poisons REALLY believe they are 'safe' for the planet and those of us who live on it? Does anyone REALLY believe it?

PM me if you want the link to said article.

What's worse? Bugs and weeds or do you chose perfect LOOKING produce laced with poison and have polluted streams so your lawn looks pretty. I'll take specked fruits and veggies with dandelions any day over the man made poisons we are over using.

Buy and use ORGANIC!

Greeneyedgirl, you're right on.

It's terrifying what is put in the food supplies plus elsewhere.

I wonder what else is doing done to us that we have no clue about.

Anyway have a great day and keep smiling.

Hey there-

I would love if somebody could send me information about organic meat/chicken. For instance, lab results that prove that the antibiotics and hormones make a difference in our bodies. I have had so many of my friends tell me this, but all the research that I do and my dr, we can't find anything. The only thing we have found is that lavendar has natural estrogen in it and girls should not use it. Can anybody give me SOLID evidence? I would be very interested. SHEP

My recommendation is to do what you know to be right.

Listen to your intuition, and don't wait for any studies or research.

Do you have a link for a water report?

I'm curious if CS has fluoride in the public water supply.

Now you KNOW I'm a data geek & packrat. I've downloaded the water quality report, rate tables.....can somebody help me....

Try these:
- http://www.csu.org/ (home page)
- http://www.csu.org/environment/water/2190.pdf (broken link) (water quality report)
- http://www.csu.org/customer/rates/rate_residential/index.html (broken link) (rate tables)
- http://www.csu.org/environment/water/page2515.html (broken link) (flouride info)

FYI: Colorado Springs Utilities (CSU) does all services in the city and close-in area, i.e., water, sewer, natural gas, electricity. One bill each month. Their long term natural gas contracts have kept our rates down too.

s/Mike

In response to the whole "will we ever learn" thing look up CHEM TRAILS on your search and see what you find.
Might not be the white puffy things that you thought they were!

There is even some cool clips that you'd be able to watch if you have the time.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...78607299698024 <---------take a look!!!! But don't stop there 'cause there's much, much more.......

note: Also this video is in Canada, but keep looking as you will see what goes on in the USA too.

leme know.
