I thought of another one!

Last year I was driving to the Zoo on a through street, and a lady in a white Escalade blew through a stop sign turning left (she wasn't stopped ever, just barreled into the intersection) causing me to veer onto the side grass in order to not be hit.

I wondered if she were medicated. I can see missing a sign stuck behind a bush or something, but not a clear stop sign and a left turn without even looking.

I would say anytime you have an unsignaled left turn you have an opportunity to fix stupid.

I have seen more ticketing in the past month or so than I have seen in the rest of the 8 years I've lived here.

Neither of my examples was an unsignaled left turn. Both of them had arrow lights. The one at Voyager and Razorback, the guy went AROUND a person in the left turn lane, using the straight-on lane next to it, and attempted to go through the red light. One wonders if he was having some delusion in which he was driving a fire truck or something with sirens and lights? Because that's pretty much the ONLY way that makes any sense.

The second was someone turning from Austin Bluffs onto Union, where there are two left turn lanes with arrows for both. They didn't run the red, but decided that instead of following the clear markings on the pavement directing you what lane to turn into from where you are, and without looking to notice the cop they almost ran into, they would turn into a lane other than the one they were supposed to on the fly. And I see that nonsense at other intersections with multiple turn lanes that are marked clearly, all the blinkin' time.

I am not real sure how any traffic engineer is supposed to fix such things. The lights are clear, the pavement is clearly marked, people just decided to blow off the rules (and common sense.)
