What do the signs mean? (Golden, Penrose: hotel, neighborhood, camp)

I was over at Cheyenne Canyon a few days ago, and I saw many signs along the road saying that The Broadmoor is a bad neighbor.

What is that about?

"Driving to Seven Falls
Patrons must park at 1045 Lower Gold Camp Rd located at Norris Penrose Event Center.

Parking and shuttle transportation is complimentary; all Seven Falls and 1858 patrons will park at 1045 Lower Gold Camp Rd.

Please note: There is no parking at South Cheyenne Canyon Park for Seven Falls patrons."

The Broadmoor runs its buses from that parking area to the Seven Falls site. People along that route don't like the additional traffic and congestion.

Wouldn't a shuttle actually reduce traffic?

I was at the Seven Falls in May and saw one of those bad neighbor signs on the way there, but back in May, the parking and shuttle for Seven Falls ran from the Golden Bee, not the Norris Penrose Event Center. So if it's only been a problem for one month, why were there "broadmoor is a bad neighbor" signs up back in May? Granted, the sign I saw might have been on a different road, when shuttle went from the Golden Bee to the Seven Falls, so maybe those people had the same complaint. But what exactly do they expect the Broadmoor to do? Close the Seven Falls? It's not the Broadmoor's fault they chose to live near a tourist attraction.

Not since they've changed the shuttle/parking location - a new parking place and new route for the shuttles means new streets that are seeing traffic they didn't used to.

This seems like idiotic NIMBYism to me. If they didn't have the shuttles, how many more cars would be driving those same streets? Plus Cheyenne Blvd, 8th street etc where the shuttles are running are hardly quiet residential streets -- they're the main access roads in and out of the neighborhood, and I'll bet 7 Falls was operating as a tourist attraction long before the complainers moved in.

I must say I *have* wondered about how frequently the shuttles run, though. I've seen them a lot on 8th street. I don't know if there are really that many people riding them that they need to run the buses every 5 minutes (or whatever) for capacity reasons, or if they just don't want to keep people waiting.

They definitely reduce traffic compared to if people were going in their own cars.
