Hi, I'm looking for a list of companies that hire felons for full time work. I been having a hard time finding any type of work, obviously. I interview well and usually get the job, but then the background check comes in and the offer is rescinded. I'm a customer service specialist with a tech background. The last two summers I been doing manual labor in a different state.

Anyone know of a company that either doesn't do a background check or only checks at the state level and not federally? Felony is from a different state.

You might try a smaller company that doesn't likely run a background check. Your choice to go in with telling them your past or chancing it that they may find out. I've hired people for small companies before and personally I would rather have the honesty and be able to make the judgement call. For me it would work in your favor as long as your felony wasn't for something that directly impacts the business.

I'm trying to search for small companies on indeed but can't seem to find any. I always tend to tell them the truth when asked, I actually been rethinking this and wanted to start saying no and taking the chance. No, it's not business related.

Yeah I can't account for the veracity of the list - it came up in a Google search. It might be it comes down to individual hiring manager in some cases, and that there are inconsistent practices. Good luck.

I'd also recommend registering with some of the temp agencies here in town. Advise them of your history and have them do the leg work for you. They will know which clients are willing to work with your past and can help direct you to them. Services are free to you and many places can be temp to hire programs that will eventually get you where you want to be.

Personally, being honest and up front would be the best approach as if you do not tell them, maybe they feel you are trying to hide because history repeats its self.
