That doesn't make sense to me...my property, right?
Would someone break a window to drive away with it at 8am in the freezing cold in a residential neighborhood?
Who's walking around or driving by looking for locked cars running?
I transport an older sister...it's gotta be warmed up in there!

A rant...there is no real answer. (not getting one of those auto starts)
I have the auto start.

I start my truck from inside my home, which is really nice, especially on a cold morning. I also have seat and seatback warmers. It takes a key in the ignition to do anything with it.

They work.

Oh, garages work too.

Unattended idling vehicles are at much greater risk for theft. This is the primary reason "puffing" is illegal. But it does also waste gas & increases pollution. If you have access to an outdoor 110v outlet you can install a block heater in your engine. These circulate & warm the coolant in the engine so the engine is already warm when you first start it. Plug it into a timer and you can set hours of operation (for example from 2am-6am before leaving for work) to save even more energy. If you don't have access to an outlet consider investing in better cold weather clothing. Sure a hell of a lot cheaper than a stolen vehicle.
