Need a good Vet Recommendation
Getting a puppy soon and am wondering if anyone can recommend a vet they trust who isn't outrageously priced. Thanks! (BTW I'm in NE Springs)

We have two 7 months old puppies and have been going to North Academy Vet Hospital and been very pleased! I was also told that the Dublin Vet Hospital is very good. You may also want to look into dog training classes...I was told Pet Smart has a very good program.
Good luck

I LOVE my veterinarian - Dr. Quinn Flennikin @ Briargate Veterinary Clinic on 7530 Rangewood, just north of Woodmen. 719-599-3339.
I've been taking my animals there since they opened up. Flenniken is awesome. He just took care of my old kitty with a teeth cleaning and we removed a non-cancerous lump on his ear.
Here's my old boy - you can see the stitches on his right ear:
The dog is pretty healthy too and had a lump removed by one of their other docs as Flennikin was out of town. He too did very well.
They run another clinic on North Academy...but yeah, if I have to move I will surely drive across town to take my animals to them. They are great, will work with you on payments but if you have a CareCredit account, please look into it instead of asking them to low-ball. The care they give is the best.

I had a friend that worked in their dog grooming and she's a huge animal fan...she would not recommend their veterinary services at all. Not because of anything other than the fact she just didn't feel they did the best for their "patients".
The vet I recommended may well be part of the same clinic. I can't find their business card (usually on my computer desk) but I am thinking they are part of the same veterinary group. Dr. Mooney is really good too. She helped me with my Niki when Flennikin was out of town as she came over from the other clinic. I like her, she's great.

I only meant the dog training program at Pet Smart. I took one of my dogs once to the vet hospital at Pet Smart and I was very unhappy...they had my dog for 4hours (we were walk-ins) and could not figure out what the problem was ....then they wanted to run 3 or 4 different tests and I refused and took them straight to North Academy Vet Hosp. There it took them 10 mins to find the problem and help my dog (without running any tests!!)....I will never go back to Pet Smart for vet services.

Why thank you. I am a bit biased but he's a pretty boy.
He was a rescue back in 2002 at 8 years old. He came with a brother (their original owner was in hospice) but he got really sick - a lover boy of a black cat but was soooooo sick. Anyhow, my Montgomery is a loving and such a good kitty. I have never had a cat with his temperment. I can't get him into the cat carrier anymore so I just let him be and when I took him into the vet to get the stitches out of his ear, he was all good with the dogs in the clinic. I dont' know what I did to get blessed with such a good kitty but he makes me smile.

Ah, thanks for clarifying that. I don't know the docs you are talking about but the two clinics are some of the best in town as far as I am concerned. What I dig is they are connected so if for some reason I "have" to move I can possibly look to No Academy but I would miss Flennikin too much for that to happen. He has such a great "bedside" manner, if you will. He cracked me up when he gave my Montgomery a bit of an ear massage and I told him (this might gross some people out) to let my cat lick the ear goop off his fingers and he went along with it.
Hey, when you have a dog that licks his, you know, cats and their habits are lot less gross. We even talked about the fact that my cat is more dog than cat with his cysts and such...he's never seen a cat with as many skin growths. This is why I go to him. He makes me laugh but he is a good man and understands his clients and their animals. He's not "clinical" as he really tries to know the animals he's treating as well as the people that they live with.
He talked me into to getting Montgomery's teeth cleaned and we had to extract some of the back teeth (hey he's moving on to 13 years old or such) but he's doing well for his advanced age.

Thanks for the replies! I will check into this Flennikin. Dr. Quinn, I mean come on.
I really am wanting to stay away from Petsmart. I have heard they aren't too hot..just as COflower confirmed.
About the training, I am really excited to train mahlah myself. I have trained a Golden before (we are getting Ridgeback) and found an awesome training site. Check it out if you want. (dogtraininginnercircle.com)
Thanks for the replies!
