Then the "missing" plane flew over the crowd from behind us. He flew over VERY low and fast. It was silent and took everyone by surprise. Then about a second later....BOOOOOM!! The dude hit sonic boom and I remember feeling it in all of my bones. Was super cool.
That wasn't a sonic boom. Just a sonic delay. They don't do mach speed runs at low altitude for public display. Well, it's possible they did, I wasn't there, but unlikely. And a sudden blast of noise from any jet doing a low speed pass is still explosively loud.

In addition to T-Birds, take a look at this site with TONS-O-PIX from the 2009 Open House at Edwards AFB.

OPEN HOUSE at Top Secret, Edwards Air Force Base. Absolutely incredible photos.

Looking through the 2014 schedule of events posted on usafa.edu, I noticed these items that might be interesting for aircraft buffs or photographers:
Tuesday, 27 May 2014 10-11am: Graduation Parade at Stillman Field "Make sure to arrive early for aerial demonstrations by our cadet flying teams, including glider landings on the parade field and a parachute jump by the award-winning Wings of Blue.

Tuesday, 27 May 2014 2-3pm: USAF Thunderbirds Practice Show at Falcon Stadium

Wednesday, 28 May 2014 12:30-1:00(approx): USAF Thunderbirds Demonstration

Anyone else know of any other fly-overs or interesting events?
