Default welcome to Colorado Springs!

We are originally from Europe....lived 10 years in Dallas and moved to Colorado Springs last year! We love it here! We love the outdoors. Skiing, biking...we love the seasons! For us, the Texas weather was so boring! The winters were mild and the summers were very hot and humid. I hated the flash floodings in spring...and the tornado warnings. In summer...we would go for weeks with blue sky and heat! Here, I love to have a cloudy day from time to time.....I love that it cools down in the evenings here...and I love the thunder and rainstorms after a hot summer day
This winter here in CO was not harsh at all! But you have to be ready for a snowday and cold/icy day here and there...in between it gets quite mild....but then it can snow the other day.....we love that! It is nice to have a change in weather! Also....it is most often sunny here! Spring is just starting (the trees are not blooming yet...but just a few weeks away..I remember in Texas the trees blooming in March/April).

If you are into the outdoors, do not care too much about shops and restaurants,..........you will love it here! There is shopping and some great restaurants here..but here it is not as big as where we lived in Dallas. But that's fine with us.....we were not big into it... for us it is more important to be minutes away from the forests and mountain trails! We have met other Texans here..and nobody regrets their moves!

We live in District 20 schools (Academy School Dist. 20 - Welcome) and have been very pleased so far!

We live at a very high altitude....and it is very dry here...one has to get used to that!

But we love being here..and we would never go back to Texas - despite the great friends we made there! ...They will all have to come here now to visit us

Do yourself a favor, if you move to Colorado, head to Denver instead. You'll think me later

Howdy

Where (location) is he going to work?
What line of work is he in?
What is your housing budget for rent or purchase?
Are you getting a relocation package? If not, the cost to move is about 8%-10% the price of your home.
What are the kids' ages?

Why do you say Denver instead of the Springs?

We're also from TX - Dallas area and would love to move to CO, and are trying to decide where. We don't care for big metroplex areas, but need a town w/ good medical care for my Mom, a college for my son, and employment for me in the oil & gas industry.

If you are going to make these statements, please provide some solid reasonings to back them up. A statement like this doesn't add any value or help anyone.

I do not know why you would want to move to Denver. Colorado Springs is a great place to live. Denver is just another big city..so what.....

I've been planning to move there from Texas for awhile now. My house outside of Austin has been on the market since February. I'm going to drop the price soon. I want to get out before the heat really hits this place! I was originally thinking Manitou was the place for me, but due to rising gas prices, I think I want to be closer to where I'll be working and move to around Monument. I'm really looking forward to it!
