Public Transportation
I an a car owner, however I also like to use public transportation to save on gas to frequently. How would you all rate the CS Transit ( hours, routes, etc).I'm strongly considering moving here.

It really depends on the areas.
My retired Mom came to stay with me and she likes taking public transit, walking, keeps her fit. The areas that were too far to walk, yet she wanted to get to, from my house, the buses did not go there. The busier streets tend to have the bus routes on them, Academy Blvd, for example, Downtown is another one.
The buses run 7 days a week. On weekends the buses don't run as frequently, maybe your stop will have a pickup once an hour as opposed to twice or three times an hour. Just depends on where you live and where you want to go.
I live on the north side, but not FAR north by any means. My house is quite close to Dublin and Academy, so the bus stop is rather close.
Hopefully with the growth of this town they will add more routes especially on the north end.

It's awful. Unless you have a perfect situation (stop outside your house and work with no transfers between) then you should just assume there's no public transit.

The Tulsa Transit here is a big joke. They start running at 6:30a, and stop running at 5:30 Mon-Fri. Sat till 4p and no service on Sundays...Just think, the "Buckle of The Bible Belt" and no bus service for the less fortunate- Thanks Amery and One Thousand!

I know a bit about the transit system because a lot of my HS kids (I teach) use it. It takes a good 1-2 hours to get anywhere. In fact, one my kiddos came to school Friday complaining that his bus broke down TWICE on the way to school. One of my kiddos would rather walk from Research Prkwy and Union to Memorial Park rather than ride the bus- same amount of time too. The bus transfer station downtown does have quite a few drugged out homeless individuals who linger there, mostly during the winter months for warmth. With that being said, I believe they are working on improving the system with the high gas prices. FREX, which goes between Springs and Denver isn't that bad though. The bummer is that you are limited on where it takes you.
My opinion, give it a shot and decide for yourself. We all have different opinions and you might think it isn't that bad. Good luck!

Not a fan of Metro. Not at all.
I didn't have a car for a while back in the late 80s and it hasn't changed much since. It took me three hours to get to Security to get my Colorado ID.
Shorter trips weren't bad but that was a nightmare.
As it is the only bus stop close to me is about 2+ miles. Walk that in a snow storm? No thanks.
The service I had was horrible when I had to hoof it. I would not wish that on anyone in this town. You almost have to have a car to survive here.

Depends on where you live. Up North there is only one bus-the 25. Other parts of town there are many buses-the places where people might actually ride the buses are the ones that get them. I find it hard to believe that your kid can walk from Research and Union to Memorial Park in the same amount of time that it takes a bus to get there. Your kid only has to take the 25 to the Citadel and then the 8 which turns into the 7 which happens to go right past Memorial Park. As for the bus terminal there is security there. Drugged out homeless people? Real compassionate bloke you are. Stop trying to make a whale tale out of a fish story. I see you're teaching your kids some excellent life lessons.(end sarcasm mode)

One of the ways that an area can increase it's tax base is public transportation: Lots of jobs are only accessible by car. many lower income ppl can't afford a car- Ergo, unfilled jobs, less taxpayers, and less revenue .
