Hey all,
The wife and I are going to be visiting Colorado springs for several days on a road trip we're doing (seeing friends in Montrose as well) during the first week of June and scouting out areas to live when we move in approx 1 year. We're probably going to end up in Peyton so we can have some property, and there are two very important things to us.. Sushi and Internet. We realize Peyton probably won't have a sushi resturaunt and thats okay (if it does please let me know! hah), though our hotel is on colorado springs and if anybody knows of a really good one PLEASE let me know. Also, internet is something we can't live without. Could someone tell me if there are any decent high speed internet services available in the Peyton area? Thanks. |

AI is a good Sushi restaurant in COS. It is off of Powers Blvd. by the movie theatre called Tinseltown. In that same shoppette? is Old Chicago and Rock Bottom. Rock Bottom has a good Ahi Tuna plate.
As far as internet...not sure but, I would think if Bresnan Communications or Comcast is the cable provider,..they might have internet out there. If not, maybe Qwest (the phone company) might have it too. I'd google all of those and put in the area to see what is available. Enjoy your trip out here and.....if you are going to Montrose to see someone..talk them into taking you a few miles south to Ouray. Not only is it probably the most beautiful place in Colorado....they have a Sushi Restaurant there....complete with red leather couches for seating!!!! Just Go!! You won't be sorry!!!!!!!! Oh Yeah, don't forget to take lots of pictures!!!!!!!!! ![]() |

Kura Sushi is pretty good, Union and Research. My wife and I have been there several times. The only negative is there are only two sushi dudes working there and when there's a big crowd and lots of take outs, they are so busy that service slows down. When this has happened the staff offers us complementary bowls of miso soup and edamame.
You might find a person or business in Peyton that lives really close to where you might buy a home and plug their number into an ISP service search tool. |

Daniel,
i do live in Peyton. Falcon Broadband, QWEST and Comcast. Qwest is DSL/Satellite TV. Comcast and Falcon are both cable. i have heard Falcon Broadband also provides wireless service to some of the out of service areas. All provide a three service package for about $90 to $115 dollars for the basic service. I went with Falcon and have been really happy although I do not subscribe to cable tv. |

We live in Falcon, next "town" in from Peyton closer to the Springs, but same zip code. We have Falcon Broadband for phone, internet and cable and are quite happy. The basic high speed package is plenty fast enough for us and we are both on teh intrawebz ALL the time. My hubby would know the exact speed, but our basic package was akin to the high speed package available the last place we lived. Cable and phone also work just fine.

Awesome, thanks for the help! I think we're going to have a really tough time deciding whether to live in the city (springs) where we can buy a really nice big house for around 200-225k, or somewhere further out where we can have property and horses and such though drive to work, spend $ on gas, and deal with winter roads.. decisions decisions :P Our trip is scheduled for the first week of June so we'll be checking out the areas then. Thanks for the help! Oh and as far as land line phone service goes my wife and I just use Cingular cell phones, does anybody know if cingular gets good reception out there? Im not holding my breath but thatd be great as we havent used a land line for a couple years now.

That was my big problem when Cingular Wireless merged with ATT.
I forget the exact frequencies, but one of them used 1800mhz in thier towers and the other one used either 900 or 1900 or maybe it was 850mhz. I forget, but they used different frequencies anyway. After the merger, I'd go to say, my mother in law's in the middle of Missouri with my triband Cingular phone. No signal at all. Same with most of Kansas. The only fix for me was to replace my phone with a quad band because my old phone didn't have the one band that ATT uses. Other than that, ATT/Cingular coverage is pretty good around even the further out areas. You shouldn't have to worry about it in the city though. So at the minimum, you may have to get a new phone. I'd check out signals when you get out here. Just because you don't have signal, doesn't mean that there's no tower close enough, just keep in mind that it may be the phone itself. My son in law and I went chasing a thunderstorm and ended up out in Kit Carson. We both had Cingular. His razor had full bars, mine had none. |
