We already found a house in the Stetson Hills area, however we do not close until July 18th.
Today was a very nice day. I took my daughter to the pool at Wilson Ranch. We were very impressed. It is like a little water park.

I was back in Michigan the other week getting married and went to Florida for a cruise. All I have to say.......NO HUMIDITY IN COLORADO ROCKS!! This climate is awesome Even at 90F yesterday when we flew in at COS, it felt great...but of course it's a little cooler up here in Woodland, which we enjoy.

Glad you are starting to like it. Me and my new wife are also enjoying it here. We moved from Las Vegas in March and hopefully will start to meet some friends shortly. Been busy with the wedding and moving. It will help after we buy a house in 10-12 months.

Congrats on getting married. GOOD LUCK! Your right about it being 90 degrees yesterday but not really feeling like it. It was hot but nothing compared when added with humidity.

Check out the Gazette newspaper on Fridays (www dot gazette dot com) they have a GO section when lists all kinds of local activities & events. Also once a year they do a best of the Springs list which is listed on the website year round.

Other recommedations;

Cave of the Winds

Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine Tour (near Cripple Creek)

The view alone from the top of the mountain right above Cripple Creek is worth the drive!

Bigg City (Also known as Mr. Biggs. Huge indoor kids play place, a great thing to do when the weather is cold)

The Colorado State Fair in Pueblo (end of Aug, beginning of Sept) is a must. However count on it being an all day event, & remember it is always hotter in Pueblo!

Flea Market (on Platte, just West of Powers)

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (lots of stairs & walking up hill)

Pikes Peak Cog Railway

Anderson Farms (fall festival) www dot andersonfarms dot com

Downtown Aquarium (Denver)

Territory Days (Memorial Day weekend in Old Colorado City)

Colorado Balloon Classic (Labor Day weekend at Memorial Park)

Garden of the Gods

Six Flags Elitch Gardens (Denver, also has a waterpark)

I'm sure there are plenty more that I am forgetting!

Hi folks, and welcome to The Springs. The town I moved from was so small, if you turned it upside-down, it would start to snow. I would recommend finding and buying much of your camping needs at the Flea Market. Sunday before Noon is best, IMO. For inexpensive recreation, you might try chasing parked cars in mall parking lot, or waxing and polishing your dustpans 'cause this town is Snoozeville! uh, sorry.....I was remembering the town I moved from. Let's see...Fox Run Regional Park in the Black Forest, a beef and bean burrito from El Taco Rey, a cold micro-brew from Phantom Canyon and the requisite game of billiards are just a few recommendations. Please watch your speed in C.S. The authorities are out in force. Oh...sorry for hitting your truck. Travel well!

Default 2 1/2 weeks in The Springs

Well It has been 2 1/2 weeks now and still loving it. Staying in a hotel this long is sort of tough and just to think I have another month to go before we get into our house.
We have really enjoyed hiking around Palmer Park. We went back for a second hike. And will keep going back again and again.
Yesterday we went to Garden Of The Gods. Again what a great place. We hiked for four hours. We parked at the first parking lot we came to and took the Palmer trail down to the balancing rock and then hiked back. When we first arrived we stoped at the visitors center. We got stuck there for a while because a strong storm came through. It rained/hailed fast and hard. Lots of slush was left. It was neat. Once it stopped we headed out for a beautiful day. As I was taking pictures I noticed the beginning of a funnel cloud. We all watched as it quickly formed. My daughter was upset with me and didn't talk to me for about an hour. We left TN to get away from the tornados. It had gotten pretty scary there. One had touched down a couple miles from us and did some pretty bad destruction. Anyways my daughter kept saying "mom you told me there were no tornados here!" During our hike we came across a Doe, two bucks and some cute chipmunks.

Hi Lildreamer - Texas here for now, but used to live in CS.

Since you miss your little one swimming, my parents used to take me out to Memorial Park. Back then they had an indoor swimming pool and a very nice lake/pond that you could walk, jog or bike along.

Seems like your family is having a wonderful time out there. Keep up with the smiles. Family time is what it's all about.
