Hello,
Our family has been planning on relocating to Colorado Springs for about a year now and we've decided to move in September 2008. Finally getting out from the Washington Metro Area! The main reason behind our move is from my past experience there in Colorado. I spent about 5 years in Aurora CO before and I fell in love with the state. Anyway, after following the numerous threads on this board, we've decided to find a house in Briargate area. But since we don't know the area well, we will be renting an apartment there for about a year until we know exactly where we want our house to be. I'd like to ask you for some suggestions here. If you know an apartment in a safe area (doesn't have to be near Briargate) please tell us. I will be spending about a week there in August to sign the lease and etc. So I'd appreciate your opinion on it. Here are the things that I'm looking for. 1) 2 bedrooms. 2) Safe neighborhood. 3) Broadband internet avail. Preferably FIOS. 4) Reasonable price. We are very flexible with location because I have an online business. Please help us find a good apartment! Thanks all. |

imho...
rents are crazy here, most are almost as much as a house payment. most of the schools begin in august so if you have kids they will be a few weeks late. there are good parts of town, mostly northern part of town. Info Center : Gazette.com that link has some info that may be helpful. good luck |

I live within walking distance: http://www.google.com/search?client=...utf-8&oe=utf-8 )The Vinyards apartments....
Hope the link works. Anyhow, it's a gated complex, right across the street from 7-11, King Soopers and a lot more consumer stuff. Still in District 20 and easy access to most anything in the city. I live very close and it's a good place from what I know. It will give you a good taste of the area. They are relatively new so they are not run down or filled (hopefully) with icky people. The rent is pretty high but decent. BTW, there are houses up for rent all over the place around here. For a bit more you can have a single family home. This specific area around where I live is filled with renters and most of them are very nice and good people. (Just north of the Vineyards.) Just thought I would throw that out there for you. Hope that helps. |

The rent on my place is $1200 a month, but it's a 2500 sq. ft. 4 bed, 2 bath bi level.
Between me and my roommates, it's very affordable. You could rent a small apt though for probably $800-$900 a month. I'm in district 20, and I love it. I moved from the west side and feel much more comfortable here, even considering i'm 28 and single. Just more my kind of people. I could probably leave my keys in my truck and not worry about it. If you have kids, and you care about their education, district 20 is where you want to be. |

Here are a list of apartments that I like:
1. RidgePointe (Briargate) 2. Bella Springs (Briargate) 3. Cottonwood Terrace (on Dublin) 4. Creekside at Nor'wood (off of E. Woodmen) These are what I would consider safe, comfortable, and reasonably priced (for Co Springs). Also, I live in Briargate and pay $645/month for 752 sq. ft (1 bedroom) not including utilities. If you move during the "right" time, you can usually score cheaper rents than what's listed. Best o' luck to ya. Last edited by Averie-Jay; 07-08-2008 at 11:56 AM. Reason: addition |

Usually it's those people that have a bit of suck for themselves. I don't know anyone personally that lives there but I have noticed that some people have lived there since it started renting to people, maybe three years. You can tell by the things they keep on the balcony. I spend a lot of idle time (snort) at the stoplight there so I kinda of gawk at things in that area. If it were that bad as some claim, no one would live there. Plenty of people live there and it seems like a decent enough place from my own observations. Of course I did mention that there are a lot of homes up for rent around here too. The smaller homes will be across Rangewood from me. We have a few smaller homes in my area but they are all owned and occupied. So if you want a house, west of Rangewood, north of Woodmen and south of Research. |
