From Oregon to Colorado
I have posted one thread here regarding moving from Oregon. With that in mind, I do a lot of hunting and fly fishing. Mostly hunt in Eastern Oregon and fish the West side of the state. How is the hunting and fishing in Colorado, looking into moving to Colorado Springs. Please remember I don't know the geography really well.
Thanks

Hey there! I heard Oregon is beautiful, I have friends that were just there last week. My husband is into fly fishing and there are some great spots w/ in 45 minutes of Colorado Springs. There is Decker's, Eleven Mile Canyon and also somewhere around Canon City. I don't know much about hunting, but my hubby's buddies go, so there must be something kinda close. What is bringing you to Colorado?

what brings me to cs? Although Oregon is beautiful, cuz it rains a lot, it is really congested. I live in beaverton a sub about 15 miles from where i work downtown portland and it takes me anywhere from 30 to 50 min in the am and 45 to 60 min after work, that is taking the back roads nevermind the highway. It rains spring, winter and fall which makes it dark and gloomy. The summers are hot and muggy and last 2-3 months then back to rain. I am looking for a nice summy spot, not to hot (Az is to hot), and a winter with snow. A bunch of outdoor activities are a real added bonus.

I agree with you Portland and the few suburbs that are here are very congested. It seems that is how it is wanted here, until all of us here are suffocated by this ridiculous density. I don't blame you for wanting to leave. Colorado Springs won't be another Portland metro, so good choice of location for yourself. Good Luck.

Ok, I talked to my girlfriend. She says to go to careerbuilder.com to look for jobs. That is where they go. But she also heard that Questar up in Denver is hiring. She is not sure if that is for the structural department. Hope this helps.

There's not a lot of hunting opportunities real close to the Springs, but if you're willing to trek a little, the hunting is incredible. Deer, elk, antelope, all sorts of tasty critters.
As for fly fishing, Elevenmile State Park is about an hour west of the Springs. It's a beautiful canyon with terrific fly fishing (on the headwaters of the Platte). There are other spots, but Elevenmile is probably the closest and best.
