I had a child in the german school system...that makes my account as first-hand as it gets, Katiana. They made a tracking decision on him in the 4th grade in 1993. The German school system is now changing to a universal system (used to be different depending on which Bundesland you were in) that will track students at age 11...in the 5th Classe (5th grade). Do some research...it's a fact.

I am not a fan of G\T either. It is misused, mislabeled, thrown every which direction, etc...

Our education system is screwy... The German system does get high marks- but for now, I am in public ed here...

As you can see, what you posted is similar to what I originally posted. This is what my daughter learned when she studied German culture in her high school German classes. Her teacher was married to a German national.
