Does Every1 Drive like Maniacs in Springs?
Hey guys, I am currently a student at the Air Force Academy Prep School and I am from El Paso, TX. Before I was in-processed, I drove here from my hometown. For the less than two days of driving around Springs, I have to say that Colorado has the craziest, most inconsistent drivers of anywhere! Im from El Paso and we have the mixture of bad drivers from both Mexico and New Mexico, but here, I think it's ten times wrose? Is there not a law that gives pedestrians the right of way? because I have been almost ran over countless times walking around! I am wondering because next weekend I am allowed to sign out and rent a car and I want to know is it safe to drive here, or is it just one part of town. Thanks guys.

I retired from the AF after 20yrs and had assignments all over the world.
I always found that folks would tend to say "People around here don't know how to drive!", no matter what state you might be in, but in their own hometowns, everyone drives so well.

Oh, believe me. All us folks from Colorado Springs drive just fine. We all take defensive driving courses because of all the non-driving outsiders here who come here or are stationed here................. SMILE
Honey, no body drives well anywhere. The lack of courtesy and the addition of cell phones surgically attached has even worsened it.

Last time I was in El Paso I recall being stuck for quite some time behind a very old truck with Mexican plates and a big pile of old furniture strapped into the bed with twine.

10 times worse? Really? I've been to El Paso and followed a client from the Mexico border well into the interior of Ciudad Jaurez (see pics below) and back and really had no problems except for sitting in traffic for a long time getting back over.

Maybe stay out of the road and don't place yourself in a position to be harmed for now, regardless of the Pedestrian right-of-way.

I've driven and been more places than Johnny Cash himself, God rest his soul. I can't agree with your claims whatsoever.
Perhaps you should get that extra insurance if you get a rental. Good luck.

No, I unfortunately have to frequent some of these border towns to do testing in their factories. If I'm gonna go to Mexico, I'd rather go somewhere I can take a taxi to my Carribean side hotel and do some scuba-diving.
What do I do in Mexico? You wouldn't believe me if I told you.
We go down there and install floors.
A light skim-coat with added latex over existing VCT makes for easy floor prep.
I'm usually there to do the technical stuff and sort out any wiring problems; I've also been known to use a broom here and there, do a little scraping, a little patch and trowelling, maybe even throw in a few tiles

Here's a floor I installed in New Mexico on my own. I usually just test the floor and certify the floor for ESD compliance;
But the way I figure it, if I can survive driving in Mexico I can pretty much survive anywhere. In Mexico, they're actually a lot less angry as say a Manhattan.
