RockyMtMom, thanks for the kind words. Re pix of freezing fog / frost, I keep a folder of them, adding to it whenever...

Today is a totally different story. Brilliantly clear, crisp air...or as I like to say "A Great Colorado Day."

From this morning about 8AM....the white scar going up the far left flank of Pikes Peak is where the Manitou & Pikes Peak Cog Railway goes up and around on its trip to the summit. I found a photo taken FROM that spot and added it too....the view from down here, 15 miles away, and the view from up there, well over 2 miles up.

s/mike

Well...you have until June...usually. Be prepared. It is 30 degrees cooler up there. If its 45F down here, it's 15F up there, usually with a wind chill well below 0F. We were up there in mid-Oct with a wind chill of -20F. On New Year's Eve, when they set off the firworks up there at midnight, the wind chill was -55F. The train runs all year. Not sure if the highway is open all year, probably is.

Default Pikes Peak Photographs

Took these 3-31-08 at 7AM. Light dusting of snow overnight. Nice shot of clouds steaming and roiling around the Peak.

Hmm, just saw this thread. Nice pics Mike.

Don't have much of Pike's, but I did take this one January 15th around 3:30pm from Larkspur (Greenland Open Space parking lot). Saw the snow blowing off it from way up here and thought I'd take a few shots. Ok, more than a few shots. This is 5 shots stitched together into a 50 megapixel panorama, but this one is resized obviously.

My pix are taken from the house, about 15 miles as the crow flies, and we can see the New Year's fireworks just fine, but they are understandably "small" looking from this distance.

Hmm. I might have to consider this. I have some large lenses, might be something I can do, or maybe from Garden of the Gods. When I hear fireworks, I like to see if it's some place I'd like to photograph. Love fireworks shows and taking pictures of them.
