While I am sure 99% of the time there are no problems and they are a great deal, for myself, and only for myself mind you, I will never buy a set of used tires. Just my own opinion.

Thats is cool that you don't want to buy used tires. I only do if they have even wear on all of them and no patches. But if you don't buy them then that means there are more for me to choose from.

There you go. Anything that keeps them from being burned or dumped in a landfill is always a good thing.

I can see buying a set of used tires if you want to try some different brands and you don't want to spend a bundle on each new try.

If you check the sidewalls and the treads, you should be able to tell if they're okay. It's not like an engine or something where you can hide the condition it's in.

But then once I found a brand I liked, I'd get a new set - just so I could have all their use to myself.

We have to stack out used tires outside of my shop, and we also have to pay to get rid of them, so we encourage people to come take them.

I put up a sign that says "Brand New used Tires!"

Ryan, do you guys charge for the tires outside your shop, or are they free?

You can have as many as you want for free. But they're out there for a reason. IF they were worth keeping, someone would keep them.

So I thought you all might like to see what came of this thread and all your guys' good advice....

I got a Jeep! I love it. It's a 4x4, blue Cherokee, with a 4.0L straight-6. I will soon outfit it with winter tires (I got a spare set of rims! ), and a survival kit, just in case.

I thought about a Wrangler, and for straight off-roading, that probably would have been more fun, but with this, I can carry people and misc. stuff a bit easier. The Cherokee still has a nice bit of power and is pretty fun to drive.
