Default From Monument to Woodland

The other day - when we went mountain biking on the Monument Rock trail..we discovered the road from Monument to Woodland Park. Does anyone know this road?
Today, we tried to go to Woodland Park on that road...and got completely lost...well..we ended up on a dirt road...and that one looked so "sandy" my dear hubby did not want to drive it..and we turned around

I was so excited sbout discovering a new route into the mountains..... hmmm...why are there not more roads leading into the mountains...it looks like we have no choice but to take I24!!

Anyone out there who ever tried to drive this dirt road from Monument to Woodland Park?? How bad is the road and how long does it take???

That would be Mt Herman Rd. It's about 19 miles to Woodland Park from Monument. It's not a bad road. We didn't even need to use 4-wheel drive. That was a couple years ago though.

I had a bad experience with that road. LOL. It was also Christmas of 04'. We rode our ATV's and one of my buddies had an old 75' Bronco. It was a blast but we had trouble with getting the Bronco stuck for a few hours. Not a good time! If you go this time of year you should be fine. But, dont take my word for it because that was a while ago!

Thanks Vfrpilot for the pictures. That's exactly the road we were on. We just could not believe that this was the road which would lead all the way to Woodland!! And Chris, yes there were some big sand holes....and my hubby just could not see us going on on that road (getting stuck with little kids screaming their heads off - the ultimate nightmare ).... we turned back ..hoping to find a better road...but that just lead us into a neighborhood of Monument...and we were completely lost.... then found our way back to I25..and headed to Woodland via I24...we just made it in time to visit the Octoberfest!!!

I wish Mt. Herman road was a proper little road...not just a dirt road

Yep that is the road. I go down there and cut wood all the time (used to I should say). Depending on the time of year it can be really bad.
