For pure bottom line, it's not going to beat Walmart in a direct price comparison. IKEA is really good for small spaces. It looks interesting and has some simple stuff too ("I just wanna nightstand!") for pretty decent prices.

Furniture is a pretty subjective thing, but for renting, as I am now, IKEA is a godsend for me.

I'm waiting for a post-bailout economic stimulus check. Then maybe I will have some play money for IKEA and do my part to get this economy back on track.

IKEA coming to Colorado is like a dream come true!! (maybe that is a bit dramatic)....but needless to say I am so excited!! I've noticed people that have lived in Colorado for a while are not too familiar w/ IKEA...but basically it rocks!! I will be there on opening day. Great prices and very hip & cool! It started in Sweeden.

I think Ikea's stuff looks great too and I've been into a few of their stores, but I don't think it's anything to *rave* about. I'm not terribly keen on the "build-it-yourself" concept of ms such of their stuff because it never looks like it does on the showroom floor. I will say though that they've done well with getting a nice modern look with many of their pieces. Americans go a bit too crazy over it though...I was in England this summer and Europeans seem to think that there are FARRR better pieces of furniture for the same cost over there. Here in the states, people wait in lines, in tents, for an Ikea store to open (like they did when the Ohio store recently opened a few months back)...a bit too much for me...I'd rather just buy it online and have it shipped to me.

they did the same thing when the store here in Orlando opened up. People camped out and such. You can find some good deals in there, but you do have to be selectful about what you buy. You will see what looks like a nice bookshelf, but then see it is completely made out of particleboard. But next to it will be a nice solid oak one. Go in there with plenty of time and just look around. The best thing about Ikea is everything you see in the little demo rooms is for sale. All the knickknacks you see on the shelves you can buy, so you could make your living room look just like theirs if you want.

My god, you people are insane. I'd rather pull out my fingernails with pliers than shop for furniture that I have to assemble myself.

Well, yeah, but if I can get something I like for $150 versus, $450, I'll assemble it myself.

It's not necessarily the furniture....it's the curtains, home accessories, lamps, lighting, dishes, bedding,...everything for the home. I bought some beautiful simple sheers over 10 years ago and they still look great! Perhaps it's not for everyone but a lot of us think it is an awesome place, reasonably priced, unique and not everything is made in China!

Default Two things folks...

- Go for the SWEDISH MEATBALLS in the cafeteria....

- My earlier post was not meant to admonish anyone, just steer them to the thread that has a lot more meat to it.
