Snow in Colorado springs?
Ok, perhaps dumb question, but here goes--does it snow in Colorado Springs, and if so, what type of snow? I mean, is it dry and powdery, or sometimes wet and slippery?
I ask because we're considering a move there and I have bad knees, making walking in wet, slippery snow difficult.
Thanks!

YEah it snows here, mostly in the spring though. And it's rarely wet and heavy. Usually melts by mid afternoon. Only once or twice have i seen snow last longer than a day.

I have lived on the Colorado Front Range for 28 years and anyone who has been here for multiple years can tell you there is no clear-cut answer regarding our weather. Every year is different, and anything seems possible.
I agree that it doesn't snow here all that often, but sometimes it snows hard and although it generally does melt in a matter of a day or two, sometimes it sticks around longer. Sometimes it's dry and powdery, sometimes it's wet and slushy, and sometimes it icy and slippery (like this morning on the north side of town).
Regarding your concern about walking in wet, slippery conditions - I don't think you should pass on your opportunity to relocate to this wonderful city. Come join us!!! But my suggestion would be to hire a snow-shoveling service that will keep your walks and driveway clear (or live in a maintenance free neighborhood that does that for you). And on the few days each winter that we do get heavy snow, just light up the fireplace and enjoy it from inside your home!

colorado has roughly 300 days of sunshine a year. If there is any type of snow it will usually melt away b4 mid day. this making conditions better as the day goes on. so dont base you day off weather in the morning

Actually Colorado has 400 days of sunshine a year.
The truth is closer to 50, but you guys are gonna beat that 300 days to death so lets just up it a little.

Does Colorado have the corner on sunshine? Where do these numbers come from? Does someone get up every morning and make tic marks on the calendar............yup, there's the sun........
Closer to 50 days? That means we should live pretty close to one of the poles, north or south, shouldn't it.
400 days..........? Is the earth on an new axis with a new rotation? When did this take place, I may be younger than I thought? (wishfull thinking)
Jez people, talk about something to stimulate the intellect or at least show that you have some intellect. Talk about economy, Talk about entertainment/food, talk about schools, etc., but how much sunshine we get?
I think Love Colo Summers summed up the weather here pretty well.
