I grew up in Denver, raised my children in Aurora(Cherry Creek Schools). Still, to this day,.......Canon City is the MOST green and lush place in Colorado!! It is considered the Banana Belt and, the climate capitol of Colorado (not Grand Junction!).
It IS GROWING BY LEAPS AND BOUNDS ( which to some is a detrement) but still....I LOVE IT HERE!!
I can be in Colorado Springs in 40 minutes..........Pueblo in 30 minutes.
BOTH are a beautiful drive too!!
IF you want more $$$$$$$$$$$$$ for your home......come here!!!
I have a 5000 square foot home with my own personal tennis court, 3 fireplaces.....4 bed 3 baths...2 acres with a heated garage and office. It only takes me 35 minutes to get to my In-Laws in COS!! HMMMMM???
Let me think??? Guess where we get together?????
There's more but, I digress. Just PLEASE think about it!! OKAY??
Canon City WILL be the next BIG place!!! I SWEAR!!!!
SOOOOOO many commuters ....and they will have green lawns and trees!!
I have 90 shares of irrigation water ( another subject!).
Come visit,......you will most definitely be surprised!! I was and, I grew up in Denver and moved to Aurora.......I couldn't believe that Canon even existed!!
I still love Evergreen, Dillon, Breckenridge, Vail, Eagle and OURAY!!!!
IMHO!!

We live in the Springs, but just visited Canon City this past weekend and found it to be GORGEOUS. Your info was very interesting, I was wondering about the year round weather there. We visited the Abbey and ended up buying over $200. worth of local wine, it is beautiful there and the women working in the shop were very nice.
I love the fact there is a real "main street downtown" area instead of malls everywhere...yet all the major big box stores are in town if you need them. Loved, loved, loved Canon City. We love the Springs too, but Canon City should not overlooked and we will definitely be back. The city council or whoever is in charge of city planning seems to be doing an excellent job. I hope Canon City is able to retain its charm with all the growth you speak of. Thanks again for the info!
