Default Thinking About Moving To Colorado Springs

Hi,

I am a 19 year old female from sunny southern california and looking for a change of scenery. I hope to plan to make a move in the next 2 or 3 months, and I am looking for places to live that have beautiful scenery, affordable living, and a place that is safe. I love the cold, snow, and mountain climate. I plan to start off in an appartment/loft/1 or 2 bedroom house perferably no more than $500.

I was wondering how the jobs are doing, I think I will try to apply for a secretarial job, i have no experience, but i think i can do the job. Along with working on getting a court reporting certificate from an online college.

So i was wondering, if Colorado Springs is a safe place to live for someone who is young and out on their own. I have looked at Spokane, Washington and I love it there but the crime rate is just to high for my comfort. I was wondering what areas would be good to look in where the appartments won't be to far from where the jobs are. And also what is the average income a single person can live off of there, and at what hourly pay? And anything else you can include for me, please do so.

Spend a day with the book "Cities Ranked and Rated" and you'll find where the safe affordable cities are among 400+ metro areas. COLO SPGS is in the top 20 in most categories. Still, finding anything for $500 a month is not going to be easy. Generally, the whole city is safe, though there is a pocket of the southeast part of town that's iffy. With no job lined up, you may end up in retail or waiting tables until something else comes along. It can be done, keep doing your research.
