Default Nurse & SLP looking to move to Colorado Springs

My husband and I currently live in California and have for all of our lives, but are interested in moving to Colorado Springs, CO in the near future. We were wondering what standard of living we can expect to have there in our career areas? Would this be a smart move for us?
Thanks!

My wife is a RN and had no problems finding a job. She first got an offer at Penrose but ended up taking a job at a smaller hospital in Woodland Park just down the road from our condo. She is a BSN with 3 years experience and is making around $24/hr (works in the ER). She was making more as a new nurse in Las Vegas, so COS doesn't pay as much as other places. But cost of living isn't near as bad either, so I guess it works out.

No idea about SLPs!

I'm an RN and found the pay comparable to what I made in Kansas before I moved here,
but it will be a lot less than California wages for sure. Keep in mind as previously stated, cost of living is less here than in California. I work at Memorial and it's my understanding
that we have a better nurse to patient ratio (5:1 usually) than Penrose, but we also get called off more than they do for low census. Hope that helps.

I just moved here in Oct. I have 16 yrs nursing exp, the last 10 in ER. There are only 4 hospitals in the Springs, owned by 2 companies from what I understand, Memorial, 2 locations and Penrose, 2 locations. Memorial is in the midst of a hiring freeze and I interviewed 2 weeks ago for a prn position at Penrose, never heard back. The paper and local news are constantly reporting that both hospitals are in bad shape financially. I came from a city with over 1o hospitals to pick and choose from, so I am thinking a move to Denver might be in order for me.

How about licensure? I am an OT and just moved here. Is Colorado licensed for OT? Website for the board?
