Relocating and don't know where to begin on the net
Hi everyone! We're moving to Colorado Springs in Aug. My husband is PCSing/transferring to Fort Carson. I am trying to figure out where and which zip codes to start searching for homes. From my understanding he'll be with the 4th infantry brigade and I want his commute to be short. So far from what I've gathered on the web I think but not for sure that it'll be around southern el paso area.... don't quote me on that though.....
A little about us... We have a 22 month old daughter and a dog therefore we will be out and about a lot...we like to go out a lot as a family but not the partying type...
which areas would be safe and not so noisy....Which zipcodes/area should I look up?
We're still debating whether to rent or buy what do you think?
Also... Are townhouses worth buying near fort carson? I was thinking about buying and when it comes to having to move again we would like to sell it and make some type of profit...We would be first time buyers.... Please give us your input.

Stetson Hills is close, and it has lots of variety. It is also close to just about any kind of retail you'll need, practically in walking distance. It is also very cookie cutter, newer (1990s-2000s) and planned. (not sure of the zip) There are a ton of other neighborhoods, older, more trees west of SH and east and north of downtown.
Northern Springs 80920 is also very nice.
What is your budget?

are those areas near fort carson?
If we do purchase a townhouse I would say under 150,000.
If we rent under a 1000.00

There are some options here in what you call Fountain Valley in both homes and townhomes for that price range. The zip codes are 80817 and 80911. With so many foreclosures, I saw a 1750 sq ft home in my neighborhood going for 97K. Normally homes in my neighborhood go for 150K on up. In the older neighborhood across Ftn Mesa, homes can cost in the low 100s to 160K. Newer homes can reach a little higher than 200Ks. Nonetheless, there are new townhomes behind the Safeway off of Ftn Mesa that are that price range and commute would be about 15 minutes to Ft. Carson. I work on Ft. Carson as a teacher. Feel free to PM if you have more questions.

There are tons of properties in the Fountain area for sale under $150,000 near Ft Carson. I dont think Im allowed to post a link to them but if you send me a direct message, I can email it to you if you are interested in getting an idea of whats available for that price.
Also, a great place for rentals is militarybyowner.com or craigslist.com.

You can post PPAR Website It is the site that the realtors use in our area to look at all the homes for sale (so it isn't partial to any one business, just every home for sale except for for sale by owner). The realtors have a login that allows them access to information that we the public can't have. So, please feel free to look at PPAR Website and then contact a realtor to see the property or get more information.
Good luck!
