I don't know the exact location of proposed well, but, yes, it in the area west of Monument, along the base of Mt. Herman, Rasberry peak, and as far north as the mouth Limbaugh canyon. The thing is, that's all either BLM or Nat'l Forest Land, which the drilling company bought rights to years ago, so there's not much residents can do. I sure can understand why folks would want oil-drilling in their back yard, but I also understand why and how the drilling companies can get away with it. Just one of those tough facts of life - like logging or mining - but kinda tough to protest if you drive a car or heat your home.
Hopefully, if drilling proceeds, the corporations that run them will exercise discretion and not turn the entire hillside into a barren desert.
