I was on the I-70 early Sunday morning before they closed it and it was miserable. They hardly plow unless you are right by a town. I wish we would've taken the southern route through New Mexico and Arizona instead.

Odd that...I lived in Grand Junction (although I had big and mean Chevy trucks) and would travel back and forth to C Springs 1-2 time a month, sometimes more.

Other than the oddball snowstorms (hey, it's a reality, it snows!) we've had recently, I rarely have had any problems. The I drove back and forth were 93-94, 94-95 and the end of 95. Granted they were pretty dry years but I had more problems with road closures in summer months. Most notable was summer of 1994 when Storm King Mtn had a mudslide after the fires. That was fun. Traffic was backed up past the east side of Glenwood Canyon. Yep.

Anyhow, I have driven I-70 a lot and have done just fine. Besides, the scenery is worth it if you have to get stranded. ;-)
