See what did I tell you!! Closings and delays.
Anyone want to post pics so people can see how little snow it takes for us to freak out? Don't worry out of staters, it will all be gone by tomorrow (except up in Black Forest).
Ta-dah!

lol, I'm starting to think that Colorado isn't going to be that much different from Oklahoma....60 degrees in the morning, 25 degrees by 5pm. Probably the only difference here is when we get a trace of snow it's the cue for everyone here to suddenly start driving like a bunch of idiots.......

Well, the snow in my neighborhood isn't gone completely yet. And the ice under the snow in the streets? Still there. Schools are open this morning, but while taking my nephew to work this morning, my brand new Michelins slipped twice... the major roadways may be okay this morning, but nothing in the school and residential neigborhoods has been cleared.
Black ice is WAY worse than "a little snow".

Ever heard of the solar snowplow? Most Colorado Front range communities use them for the residential areas. It can take several days of +32 degree days to clear the residential streets but it saves taxpayers the expense of complete snow clearing with usual equipment that would take several days to accomplish anyway. See Code of the West on the Board of County Commissioners website Code of the West, El Paso County, CO

According to the Code of the West (yep, just read it), I cannot expect my "rural" or "private" road to be plowed.
So... Briargate's rural? It also states that school roads will be plowed (but only if they're on a school bus route). So, now when did they move Frontier Elementary School off of a school bus route? Why didn't someone inform the school bus drivers I saw at the school yesterday afternoon?
As I said before, it's not the snow, it's the black ice UNDER the snow on MAIN roads... and in front of schools. And actually, the real problem isn't the black ice, but people who drive like the roads are dry.

My first official winter here, so thanks!!! And I have to say, it's milder than I was expecting. You're right - at the first glimmer of snow over the mountains, the newscasters go into (pause for dramatic music) *STORM WATCH*!
It's actually a crack up.
