Yeah, I tried that angle first. No such luck. 225/60 R18s aren't very common.

Have you considered getting a used 4WD truck? There have been some real bargains lately due to the gas crunch last summer!

Yeah, I actually did. I considered that more than snow tires because I didn't want to invest in the tires if they weren't going to make the cut, when an old cheap beater 4x4 definitely would. I got a steal on the tires, and they are fantastic, especially with a couple hundred pounds of sandbags in the bed. I have zero trouble making it up the mountain now, even with several inches of snow on the road, and I get to keep my decent fuel mileage. Those tires chew up snow like it's their favorite meal.
