steak houses
Please list local steak houses. Being a local, I don't think I have tried them all and newbies could definitely benefit from such info!!

I used to like eating at the Three Thieves (still open?), the Pepper Tree, and how about Zeb's for a 1/2 rack of babyback ribs... some place on Maizeland and Academy?? How about the Broodmoor? The Golden Bee?
I love Outback's New York Strip.

Saltgrass Steakhouse, up on Academy, just off exit 150, in the same building that was Joe's Crab Shack. Superb food.
Ted's Montana Grill. Beef and bison steaks, ribs, meatloaf, pot roast, etc. Best French Fries. I-25 exit 151 in the Promenade Shops.

Steaksmith Steakhouse. Won multiple awards. Has been around forever and has excellent service. It is a local establishment. Much better than the standard chain fare.

Downtown there is The Famous at Tejon and Kiowa, but it's pricey, and Mckenzie's Chop House at bit further down on Cascade.

Does the Fox and Hound serve a good steak? Stagecoach Inn? Non-chain establishments?

Stagecoach does serve a good steak, and a bison version too. In milder weather the place to sit is on the back deck, over the babbling brook, which reminds me of a hotel I ate at once in Oberursel, Germany.
I'm sure the Cratftwood Inn has a good one, along with Kobe Beef, ELk, Bison, Boar and other exotics. Loved it, but it's pricey.

Mac Kenzies Chop house in down town Colorado Springs is the name of the restaurant I was thinking of and is good, also the warehouse restaurant in downtown is very good as well.
Walters Bistro by Cheyenne mountain resort is not a steak house but is very good.
